Stencyl.org is an independent source of news, tutorials and resources presented in the form of a blog. Stencyl is an open source game development platform which has yet to be released. You can find the official website of the Stencyl team here.
The Stencyl blog is written by Phil Gamble, a computing student who also has a blog focusing on the GameMaker game creation platform, GameMakerBlog. Philip also writes for MarkUp a game development magazine which focuses on YoYoGames’ GameMaker software.
